A tool, a case. This double-bladed corkscrew, made of zinc-aluminum alloy, comes in a rigid silver or black case. Weighing 85g, it feels surprisingly solid in the hand, despite its compact 11cm length when closed. Two flat, treated steel blades, welded to the alloy body, provide the rigidity needed to extract corks that have been stuck for decades.

The zinc-aluminum alloy has lower thermal conductivity than pure steel: the tool remains warm to the touch even after being taken from a cellar at 12°C. This is an ergonomic detail often overlooked by low-end, all-stainless-steel tools. The blades, however, remain made of treated steel for their critical rigidity when inserted into a resistant cork.
