CHAMVIN double-bladed corkscrew for damaged cork, old wine

Broken cork? The solution: a two-pronged corkscrew. The Limonadier two-pronged corkscrew is designed for a specific situation: a cork that's already partially torn off, pierced at an angle, or broken halfway up by another tool. The two heat-treated steel blades achieve a Rockwell hardness of 54 HRC—15% higher than standard models. This hardness allows it to penetrate cork that's compressed asymmetrically, a situation in which flexible models deform their blades and get stuck in the neck of the bottle.

  • Heat-treated steel blades (54 HRC): superior rigidity for damaged corks
  • Slim blade profile, 0.9mm thick, for penetration into tight spaces
  • CHAMVIN body with grooved grip: secure hold even with wine-soaked hands
  • 11cm long blade — maximum reach depth for accidentally pushed-in plugs

The most common situation this model solves: a helical corkscrew has penetrated the bottle at an angle, causing fragments to fall into the wine, and half the cork remains stuck in the neck. The blades of this corkscrew fit around the remaining fragment, gripping it with lateral pressure, and allowing for controlled extraction.

Protocol on partially destroyed cork

First, assess: is the cork intact but pushed in, or is there a fragment remaining in the neck? If it's a fragment: insert the long, double-bladed corkscrew between the glass and the fragment, pushing it down to the bottom of the fragment. Use the short blade on the opposite side. Compress laterally—the blades should grip the fragment. Rotate slowly, pull gradually. If the fragment still falls into the bottle, use a decanter filter when serving. Never force it abruptly: this risks pushing the cork further out.
