Belgian Trappist chalice glass with gold rim
Discover this beer glass with the Rochefort logo. This chalice-shaped beer glass replicates the format used in Belgian Trappist abbeys for strong beers of 8-12% alcohol, or 330ml. Unlike narrow tulip glasses that concentrate aromas in one spot, this wide bowl diffuses the flavors gradually throughout the tasting. The "Trappistes Rochefort" logo printed in gold confirms its abbey brewery origin.
- Large balloon shape, 9-10cm diameter: concentrates complex aromas, aerates strong beers
- Gold screen-printed trim: premium high-temperature baked edge, withstands 500+ washes
- 6-7cm insulated foot: thermal separation between hand and beer, stirring without warming
- Rochefort Trappist logo: permanent gold screen printing, authentic Belgian abbey
Handcrafted from blown glass. Free delivery on orders over €10.

Tasting of strong Trappist beers
In beer sommelier service, balloon glasses are used exclusively for complex-fermented abbey beers. Serve at 10-14°C — never ice-cold, as cold temperatures mask the spicy coriander and fruity fig aromas typical of Trappist beers. Hold the glass by the stem, tilt it at a 45° angle, and pour slowly against the side to minimize the initial foam. Gradually straighten the glass until a dense 3-4cm foam forms at the rim. The wide balloon shape allows for gentle circular swirling — oxygenation releases fruity esters. Fill to a maximum of 300ml for 10% ABV beer — leaving 30-40% headspace allows for maximum aroma development. For added fun, use with a beer gun that launches beer caps.
Gold screen printing maintenance
Hand washing: lukewarm water (40-45°C), neutral detergent, soft sponge. Never scrub the gold mesh with an abrasive sponge. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
